Tales Of Monkey Island: Screaming Narwhal - Launches for PC

Continuing on from my last post, I thought it would be a good idea to pimp the new Tales of Monkey Island game. Done by Telltale, the same guys who brought us the re-envisioned Sam and Max games and more recently the Wallace and Gromit games. With a proved track record I would like to go out on a plank (limb) and say the franchise is in very good hands. Check below for the launch trailer:

Lucas Arts reviving some of their older games via Steam

It seems Lucas Arts are dropping a few of their older games onto steam next month:

• Armed and Dangerous
• Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
• Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
• LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
• LOOM
• Star Wars Battlefront II
• Star Wars Republic Commando
• Star Wars Starfighter
• The Dig
• Thrillville: Off the Rails

My first reaction was to squeal like a little girl at seeing The Dig listed. My second reaction was that it seems to be an awfully eclectic mix of games. Loom, The Dig and the Indi games are all from another age entirely. I sincerely hope that this is the start of something. I'd love to see the original Sam and Max, Full Throttle, or (please god!) some of the original Monkey Island games.

Still, some pretty impressive games listed, if you've never played Star Wars R.C. It is still one of the best Star Wars games ever to be released and graphically it still looks mighty good. Going back to the Indi adventure games, Loom or The Dig could be harder seeing as how they where created using the old Lucas Arts engine SCUMM. If you missed those and would like to see some gaming history though, definitely worth it. I leave you now with the intro for Full Throttle, why? Just because it's awesomeness should never be forgotten.

There, don't you feel enriched now? It also ties into the Tim Schafer fetish I seem to have been developing, as it was one of the first games he was really involved with.

A "quick look" at Brutal Legend, narrated by Tim Schafer

OK, so this isnt so much a "quick look" as it is a preview or "quick sell" ( like what I did there?) But you know what? I don't care, Tim Schafer and Double Fine are so awesome that they can get away with this. For those of you who don't know, Tim Schafer and Double Fine are the guys who brought Psychonauts to life. One of my favourite all time games. I was a little apprehensive about Jack Black being involved, but it seems to work.

The cameos in this awesomely metal game are: Rob Halford (Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, 2wo, Bullring Brummies) Lemmy Kilmister (MotorHead, The Damned and more than I can mention) Lita Ford (The Runaways) aaaaand (wait for it) Ozzy Osbourne (If you need to know where he is from, get the fuck out of this blog).

Look for it in October

Hello, World

Insert Coin is made up of three guys living in melbourne. We are a blog about games, the games industry and whatever else takes our fancy. We also publish a podcast which will come out on an (almost) weekly basis.

We will be putting out short reviews, reviews and our, er, views on games, where they have been and where they are going!
